Tap into a Network: Parenting is not easy - it helps to share ideas, concerns, and experiences with other parents and educators in our community. Washington's PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport, make friends, and develop further relationships within the community.
Speak Up: Because the PTA is a forum for exchanging ideas, you are encouraged to make suggestions. The PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at the school
Be a Role Model: By becoming a PTA member, you'll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.

The Washington Elementary PTA is a great way to get involved in your child's school. By joining the PTA, you have a chance to voice your ideas about school business.

PTA Matches District Technology Bond
Washington Elementary recently received technology bond money to help in implementing new technological devices in our classrooms. With the help of PTA pledging $12,000 in matching funds, we are able to outfit 1st-5thgrade classrooms with a ceiling mounted projector that is wired to teacher desktop computers. Sometime over Spring Break, the installation should be complete. This will enable teachers to replace their overhead projectors with visual manipulatives from various computer sites as well as showing video clips from video streaming web sites. We are really excited to see how this new technology will impact student learning.
Proceeds
The Washington PTA supports fundraising endeavors for activities such as the 50's Dance and Super Kids Day as well as educational programs like Red Ribbon Week and the WOODS outdoor classroom. The proceeds from our fundraising activities go back into other activities, we want to share with you the money that we've spent on each of these areas and in some cases, these are offset by the income we raised at those events.
